The Project focuses on the development of an Advanced Platform for the Management of the Mobile and Next-Generation heterogeneous networks with indoors user positioning.
Monoloc, provides an innovative technology solution based on the user positioning information provided, among other elements, by the mobile network itself and the most advanced analysis of the Physical Space This allows the building of applications that take advantage of the precise location of the user. The aim is first to identify and develop these tracking technologies especially for new mobile networks and use their results to dynamically manage the networks themselves getting the most out of available radio assets and enabling the user to get his radio resources from different syndicated providers available in its path.
Additionally the precise user location will allow the deployment of applications that take into account the exact position of the user and provide guidance support inside closed public and private areas and issue accurate information tailored to the user who moves in those areas for both public (warnings, emergency), productivity (process management) and commercial (advertising promotions or help the user to find products and services in this environment). Finally, another objective is to self-manage the networks that are able to configure, optimize and heal themselves.
The widespread deployment of new networks of heterogeneous wireless communication: mobile (4G, LTE, Wifi) meets the growing need for resources in bandwidth of the new handsets in some cases has come to saturate existing networks causing the downtime. The user terminals must be able to jump from one network to another transparently if maximum use of the available resources is required without being saturated.
In the new networks is even more important the ability to self-management in order to take full advantage of the networks, while reducing operational costs (OPEX). Thus arises the concept of Self-Organising Networks (SON). The functionalities SON include auto-configuration, self-optimizing and self-healing.
Additionally the user's exact positioning indoors is already a necessity if the extension of existing applications that make use of user personalization taking into account his location inside multiple buildings is required outside the satellite based coverage.
The project is supported by the fact that users have increasingly greater knowledge of new technologies and therefore, its implementation today, as a value added service, will not cause any rejection.
In this context, the project Monoloc, establishes as main goal the development of an Advanced Location and Network Management Platform .The technology pillars on which the Monoloc platform is built are the techniques and localization technologies for for indoor environments based on the new mobile networks such as LTE and Femtocells.
